Techland: Adding Oculus Rift Support To Dying Light Was A ‘No Brainer’

'How could we not do it?'

Techland, known for the Dead Island series from last generation, which brought co-op zombie based loot game action to everyone, are going to be back again this time around with Dying Light, the much more sober co-op zombie survival game. The game is almost here, and it is also one of the biggest properties that have openly pledged support for the upcoming Oculus Rift VR headset- a decision that, Techland says, was a ‘no brainer’ for them.

That is according to Lead Game Designer Maciej Binkowski who said to VRFocus, “Everybody at the office was super excited to get it in. You know, with this extra level of freedom that we give to players, that was really like a no brainer to try and get Oculus on it. Like, you get on top of a building, you jump from it and you can feel it. Really, it’s so amazing, you feel it in your cut. That’s how visceral it gets. So how could we not do it?”

It certainly sounds like Dying Light is one of those games that seem uniquely suited to Oculus Rift. I cannot wait to see its implementation, and I hope that is beyond just visual gimmickry.
