Stop us if you’ve heard this one before.

Five years ago, Capcom and Namco Bandai entered into an agreement to make crossovers of their flagship fighting games. While Capcom created Street Fighter X Tekken, which was made in a similar style to Street Fighter 4, Namco Bandai was tasked with creating Tekken X Street Fighter and putting a more Tekken-esque spin on things. However, five years later and Namco Bandai is still keeping fans waiting.

That doesn’t mean Tekken X Street Fighter is cancelled though. According to producer Katsuhiro Harada in an interview with Famitsu (translated by Siliconera), when asked about the cancellation, he stated, “That’s not true!. I’ve been saying this since before, but the fact of the matter is that we’re at a pretty far stage into its development.

“It might seem like we haven’t started on it at all, but the character lineup has been decided upon since a very long time ago. And we’ve already finished the polygon models, moves, and systems.”

When exactly will it be releasing then? That’s still a mystery at this point. And so the wait continues.
