11 bit studios’ The Alters is available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5 after multiple delays, and it’s received a positive critical response. Check out the latest trailer below, highlighting the most notable impressions from various outlets.
Jan Dolski is the main character and, well, many of the supporting characters. Set on a hostile planet, players must manage a moving base by creating different versions of Jan, known as Alters, with unique skill sets. However, they also carry unique memories and personalities, which means not always seeing eye to eye with the original (or each other).
Players must thus satisfy their needs while spending resources to improve the base and keep it moving. Researching new technologies, providing better food, and adding new facilities (and accompanying Alters) is also a must.
It’s a satisfying twist to the survival genre, even if the gameplay portion of gathering resources isn’t as exciting. Check out our review for more details – we gave it an eight out of ten.
