We’ve been waiting for The Alters for a while now, and it seems that’s not changing anytime soon. Though it was originally targeting a 2024 release, the sci-fi survival title was delayed into Q1 of 2025. Halfway through the quarter, however, developer and publisher 11 bit studios announced another delay for the game.

Taking to Twitter, it announced that The Alters is now due out “later this year”. When exactly this year is anyone’s guess.

In the announcement, written in the form of an in-universe memo, 11 bit acknowledged that another delay would be frustrating. However, it assured that the added time will be used to refine and polish the game.

“While we recognize that this may not be the update you were hoping for, this additional time is being dedicated to further refining mission parameters and ensuring that all essential systems meet Ally Corp’s uncompromising standards,” the announcement reads. “Furthermore, it is also allowing us to integrate new enhancements into Project Dolly, ensuring that your eventual deployment is more exciting and rewarding than originally projected.”

Of course, those who do want at least a tiny taste of the sci-fi survival title sooner rather than later have the option of checking out its demo.

The Alters is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Watch the latest trailer here to see how protagonist Jan Dolski copes with his many alternate selves.
