Striking Distance Studios’ The Callisto Protocol is available now for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC. Publishing by Krafton, it’s directed by Glen A. Schofield of Dead Space fame and sees players controlling prison Jacob Lee as he struggles to escape Black Iron prison.
Lee faces off against other inmates infected by a strange virus, turning them into Biophages. These creatures can mutate upon taking damage, becoming more dangerous unless you shoot their tentacles. Since ammo is scarce, you’ll need to rely on melee combat and the GRP, a Kinesis-like ability for throwing enemies into environmental hazards.
Even for those who survive its 12-14 hour runtime, there’s plenty more to come for The Callisto Protocol. It’s getting New Game+ and Hardcore Mode on February 7th, 2023, for free. Season Pass owners get new Outer Way armor on the same day, followed by Contagion Mode in March 2023 and Riot Mode in Spring 2023. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
