Striking Distance Studios’ eagerly awaited survival horror The Callisto Protocol is out now for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, and PC. It’s had somewhat of a mixed response from critics and fans due to its combat, level design, and issues. However, on PC, user reviews for the Steam version were overwhelmingly negative due to stuttering.
The developer addressed the same, promising a patch to sort out the issues. The patch went live yesterday, and as per the official Twitter, it improves “gameplay stuttering issues due to shader compilation.” However, stuttering is temporarily seen in the main menu when launching the game. “Further optimizations” are coming in “the days ahead.”
It didn’t mention the Xbox Series X/S version, which reportedly has issues with ray tracing, HDR, etc. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
Aside from patches, The Callisto Protocol will receive new content in the coming months. Hardcore Mode and New Game Plus are free on February 7th, 2023, while the paid Season Pass adds Contagion Mode, new skins, death Animations, Riot Mode, and more.
Thanks for your patience. A PC patch is now available to improve gameplay stuttering issues due to shader compilation. After updating, you may see temporary stuttering in the game menu the first time you launch the app. We are working on further optimizations in the days ahead.
