"Disinformation needs to be dealt with as it can harm not only us but other indies and small/medium studios," the developer stated.

Fntastic recently debuted an extended gameplay showcase for The Day Before, its upcoming post-apocalyptic survival MMORPG. To say the response was poor would be an understatement. Along with criticism of the visuals and lack of information on features, allegations of the game not existing and being little more than an “asset flip” began to circulate.

As if in response, the developer tweeted about living in a “time of disinformation and lack of fact-checking. Anyone can say anything for views, and everyone will believe it. Disinformation needs to be dealt with as it can harm not only us but other indies and small/medium studios. It also has a mental impact on the members of our team.”

Fntastic said it would “think about” how to help developers deal with “fakes” and allocate resources for this. After The Day Before releases, of course.

When told that regularly providing some information would be ideal, the developer responded, “We don’t have a marketing department at all. All our resources go to game development. But we’ll get better at communications, thanks.” Regarding the use of purchased assets, it said that this constituted a “small percent” of total assets.

“We do everything ourselves, but there is a small percentage of purchased assets to speed up the development process. There is nothing terrible in this.”

The Day Before releases on November 18th for PC, and is also in development for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. It was set for March, but a trademark dispute emerged last month, causing a delay. Fntastic later revealed that it was planning a delay before the dispute came to light.
