If you could have a dollar for all the times someone has said “Tom Clancy’s The Division is upon us”, you should probably look into incentivizing this ability to convert statements into money. Regardless, the hype for Ubisoft’s MMO shooter is the real deal. After a successful closed and open beta, an entire content plan for year one laid bare and maybe even the biggest launch for a new IP in gaming history, it’s the season to take back New York City.

However, what about after the game’s launch? Will everything be all hunky dory, even after a roadmap has been laid out? We decided to take a look at possible issues that could plague The Division‘s future.

The Lull

If you looked at the roadmap closely enough, you’ll notice that the second expansion “Survival” is due out in the Summer while the third expansion “Last Stand” arrives in Winter. Given all the content that will be heading to the game in the meantime, one could theoretically wait out the gap. Don’t underestimate the voracity of MMO addicts though – at times, even if the content is substantial, it won’t be long before it’s completed several times after an expansion’s launch. This leads to the waiting game for new content. While Ubisoft Massive could theoretically announce something like new Incursions and the like in between the second and third expansion, at this point, we’re looking at the long time gap with nothing but concern.
