The Division Update 1.2’s Rope Cutting Leaves You Vulnerable for Six Seconds – Report

Ubisoft Massive offers more details on the controversial new mechanic.

The Division

Tom Clancy’s The Division will be receiving another major update with Conflict on May 24th. Update 1.2 introduces quite a few new interesting mechanics but the one that has players up in arms is the new rope cutting in the Dark Zone.

Ubisoft Massive community manager Hamish Bode apparently said (as per Reddit) on the game’s stream that cutting the rope would take six seconds and instantly puts you into the 19 second Rogue timer. When the rope is fully cut, you’ll go into rank 1 Rogue for 90 seconds. This is believed to introduce some more tension when it comes to extracting your loot since some one can just take it (but not without any punishment).

The problem is that right now, if you’re ganked by Rogues, it won’t matter as long as your loot is attached the extraction line. With update 1.2, Rogues will now have the opportunity to kill you and take your loot before it can be extracted. It’s less of “cutting the line to go Rogue” and more “kill them while they’re distracted and then cut the line” that people are worried about.
