The rumors were all right- The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is in fact going to be remastered, Bethesda confirmed at their E3 show this evening. The game looks incredible on the new consoles with multiple advanced rendering techniques, such as volumetric god ways, and dynamic depth of field, as well as new shaders for water and snow, making the game look far closer to its original graphical vision than it did in the original Xbox 360 and PS3 versions.

Bethesda also confirmed that the game will allow players to play mods on consoles- bringing the incredible modding community for Skyrim, which has kept the game alive and popular on PC over the last few years, since its original release, to Xbox and PlayStation players too.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is one of the most iconic games of all time, and one of the largest selling RPGs ever- so bringing it back for a new generation in such a great way sounds exciting to me. I can’t wait to see how well the game holds up.
