The Expanse: Osiris Reborn beta was impressive in its own right, but there was extensive feedback about the male protagonist’s voice. Owlcat Games announced it would recast the actor, and today, it’s showcasing the results with Blythe Melin (Marvel’s Wolverine, Honkai: Star Rail) as the new voice.
Furthermore, the default appearances of the male Martian version and J, his brother, have also been updated. The results look pretty good, as a new video highlights a more natural, comfortable voice. It even makes lines like “Well, gorgeous, you just keep those baby blues on me,” when fighting a mutated monstrosity, sound all the better.
Of course, Owlcat has other criticisms to address, including moments that were “too inconsistent or out of place.” It promises that some conversations will see improvements resulting in “more natural, responsive, and grounded” character reactions. Whether we’ll see these in a new beta is unknown.
The Expanse: Osiris Reborn launches in Spring 2027 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, and Owlcat promises more to reveal until then. Stay tuned for more details and check out some extensive gameplay of an infiltration mission on Ganymede, where things hit the fan and the action heats up.
It retails for $49.99, and if Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 came to mind, the developer confirmed it’s aiming for the same length. Head here for more details.
