A Forbes columnist claimed yesterday that Microsoft’s gaming division will soon go under due to never making profit and will be sold off to someone like Sony while MS tries sustaining the Windows division.

However, leading analyst and Vice President of Insights and Analysis for Electronic Entertainment Design and Research, Jesse Divnich believes that even the idea of such a thing happening is “ridiculous”.

“The idea that Sony would purchase Xbox or that Microsoft would even put the Xbox division up for sale is simply ridiculous,” Divinich said while speaking with NowGamer. “Las Vegas wouldn’t even handicap that scenario.”

“Sony cannot afford to purchase Microsoft’s Xbox business,” he continued. “Not to mention that the Xbox brand is not for sale.”

The report at Forbes did make some very unlikely and clearly hyperbolic statements, and we agree with Divinch in that Microsoft selling the Xbox division to anyone, much less Sony, seems highly unlikely.
