The Last of Us Remastered Will Have A Native 4K Option on PS4 Pro

That's awesome.

The Last of Us Remastered

For all the heat that Sony have been taking recently, I gotta admit that this is actually really neat. A new video report by Digital Foundry editor Richard Leadbetter (via VideoGamer) has confirmed that The Last of Us Remastered, already confirmed to be getting a PS4 Pro upgrade, will be rendered in glorious, native 4K on the system- on one of the graphical settings, anyway.

“The PS4 version has that 30Hz mode which has higher-resolution shadow maps but otherwise it’s just a locked 30fps,” he says in the report. “Now that mode on the PS4 Pro, well you keep the enhanced shadow map detail but you also get native 4K. So we have actually got a confirmed case of full native 4K game that will be available for PS4 Pro at launch, which will be The Last of Us Remastered.”

Whereas I always prefer framerate over resolution, even I have to admit I can’t get too mad at this- playing a game in native 4K is going to be pretty awesome. Plus, hey, I can switch back to lower resolution and higher framerate, should I ever feel like the need to. That’s the cool thing about having options.
