The Legend of Zelda Could Receive a New Title with Zelda as the Protagonist – Rumor

YouTuber PapaGenos tweets about Zelda being "severely overdue" as the main character in a title while hinting at it possibly happening.

Link has been the protagonist of The Legend of Zelda series for decades. While the titular Princess Zelda would take on more active combat roles, she’s only been playable in spin-offs like Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. That could change in the future, according to YouTuber PapaGenos.

He recently tweeted, “Tears of the kingdom Had a great zelda design I think we are Severely overdue for a game where zelda Is the main character. Seems to me A Hyrule adventure like that Is something fans want, Nows The time.” The capitalized letters are conspicuous, and when arranged, they spell out, “This is a hint.” Given the context, it could mean a new title starring Zelda is in the works.

Of course, whether this is a new mainline game, an expansion for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Nintendo previously announced no plans for DLC) or spin-off of the latter remains to be seen. PapaGenos’ track record isn’t too shabby, having reported on Metroid Prime’s remaster shadow-dropping during Nintendo Direct. Take things with a grain of salt, as usual.

Regarding Zelda becoming a playable character in a new title, series producer Eiji Aonuma said last December that “there may be some sort of possibility” of the same in the future. Stay tuned for updates, especially with the next Nintendo Direct scheduled for June.
