The Lord of the Rings: Gollum has looked like an interesting prospect since the day it was announced, and though numerous delays have made some people skeptical about how the game is shaping up, the concept of a narrative-driven game focused entirely around Gollum – one of the most fascinating characters in the Lord of the Rings books – continues to be a fascinating one.

Hot on the heels of having released a new story trailer for the game, developer Daedalic Entertainment has now also released a developer diary that speaks about the process of crafting its story, talking about its narrative-driven nature, how they researched the books, the movies, and author J.R.R. Tolkien’s notes to get into the nitty-gritties of the Middle-earth universe, and more. Check out the video below for more details.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Publisher Nacon has previously said that the game will be out sometime before the end of September.
