The Medium Might be Headed to PS5

Bloober Team's psychological horror thriller launched as an Xbox Series X/S console exclusive earlier this year, but could now be headed to PS5 as well.

The Medium

2021 kicked off with Bloober Team releasing its most ambitious game to date. The Medium sported fixed camera angles and a unique Dual Reality mechanic, setting it apart from other horror titles the Polish developer has made in the past, but when it launched, it came out as an Xbox Series X/S console exclusive. Though developers previously said they had no plans at the time for a PS5 launch, most assumed it was only a matter of time before the game released for Sony’s console, and that time might soon be approaching.

The Medium has been rated for the PS5 by the ESRB, as spotted by Gematsu. Koch Media is listed as the publisher, who confirmed earlier in the year that the game would be receiving a physical release in the Summer, though at the time, no platforms were confirmed for the same. This might line up with that. Koch Media also has an event planned for June 11, so they might be gearing up to announce the game’s PS5 version there.

Bloober Team’s previous game, Blair Witch, also originally launched as an Xbox console exclusive, before eventually coming to other platforms as well. By all accounts, it seems The Medium’s timed console exclusivity period might be coming to an end.

In our review of The Medium, we awarded it a score of 7/10, saying, “The Medium is a decent horror game that has some really good ideas, but ultimately fails to live up to its potential.” You can read our full review through here.
