The Messenger

After it was recently rated by PEGI for PS4, Sabotage Studio’s The Messenger has been officially announced for the platform. It’s out on March 19th, and a new trailer showcases its action platforming elements along with the time-traveling mechanic. Check it out below.

The story is simple enough – a young ninja’s village is attacked by the Demon King.  The ninja receives a scroll from the “Western Hero” and tasked with delivering it, and becomes the Messenger. He subsequently embarks on a journey to deliver the scroll to the top of the mountain, while battling the Demon King and his minions along the way.

Taking influences from the Ninja Gaiden series on NES, The Messenger offers two time periods – the first spans the 8-bit era of action platforming, while the second is an homage to the 16-bit era. Along with the time-traveling, the tight controls and difficulty are also a good reason to check it out. The Messenger is currently available for PC and Nintendo Switch.
