Biomutant
You have to feel for the development team behind Biomutant. It was announced roughly four years ago and despite the oddity of its aesthetic, looked fairly ambitious. All of those different systems would come back to bite though. It bolted on open world-style tasks with beat ’em up combat and third person shooting while also haphazardly throwing in reputation, morality, crafting, mounts, character customization, loot tiers and much more. All of this resulted in nothing really standing out and the style of story-telling, from the annoying narrator (who can now thankfully be turned off) to the forgettable characters and lame events, didn’t appeal either. It’s a shame considering how small the development team is but Biomutant just isn’t worth the time.
