Obsidian Entertainment is hoping The Outer Worlds will be a launching point for a new franchise. The RPG takes a lot from its Fallout roots and looks to do something both familiar and different. It will be filled with morally-grey choices and storytelling, but it also certainly has a sense of humor about it. Today during the Inside Xbox conference, we got a bit of that in a new interview.

Senior Narrative Designer Megan Starks spoke about several aspects of the game, focusing a lot on companions and how you control them, as well as how you chose different routes for your character. One route she talked about was the “mad scientist route.” Choosing to focus on that will bring you into the goofier aspects of the game like shrink rays or a weapon that rearranges the body parts of enemies. Check it out below.

The Outer Worlds will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on October 25th. A Switch version will come sometime after. You can check out the first 40 minutes of the game through here.
