Red Barrels’ The Outlast Trials is inching ever closer to release. The multiplayer horror title will be available on May 18th, albeit in early access for Steam and the Epic Games Store. While the developer hasn’t outlined the content, it has released a trailer with performances by its cast. Check it out below.

The Outlast Trials takes place during the Cold War era, with the Murkoff Corporation recruiting “volunteers” for its experiments. These trials will test players’ morality and sanity and are playable solo or with up to four. If you’ve played the previous games, the gameplay mechanics will be very familiar: Run, hide, sneak and do your best to stay alive.

You receive tools, upgrades and perks to provide an advantage, like slowing down enemies or being more stealthy. Your character and cell are also customizable, letting you put a personal touch on things. The goal is to collect enough documents on Murkoff’s torture, but how it all ends remains to be seen.
