After showcasing the variety of its boss fights in the last trailer, Project Cloud Games’ The Relic: First Guardian has a new combat deep dive. What makes this interesting, however, is that it showcases exploration typically and how the stories of the Brutals intertwine. Check it out below.
As you venture through the world, you’ll discover different enemies, some potentially engaged in looting and others gathered around a campfire (with explosive barrels to blow up and damage them). On other occasions, you may learn about a son who left his humble home, seeking treasure and leaving his mother behind. Through notes left behind, you’ll discover the tragic turn of events and how they turned him into a spirit of regret.
It’s your job to defeat him, of course, and we see more of how abilities and parrying open up enemies to a “Groggy” state, which is when you can deal massive damage. He’s not always going to stand around watching you attack, though, and even parries some of your attacks back. Upon defeating the Prodigal Bound in Dust, you regain a piece of the Relic and wrap up the boss fight.
In case the fight seems too simple, other Brutals are highlighted near the end of the trailer, which boast multiple varied attacks and extensive mobility. With about 80 to encounter, The Relic: First Guardian is shaping up into an intriguing Souls-like experience when it launches on July 31st for PS5 and PC.
