The Sinking City Combines Mystery With Lovecraft in New Cinematic Trailer

Gaze long into the abyss and the abyss will also gaze into thee.

From Sherlock Holmes: The Detective’s Daughter to another supernatural mystery, Frogwares certainly has its work cut out for it with The Sinking City. Appearing today at the PC Gaming Show 2018, the game’s newest cinematic trailer offers a taste at the kind of mood players can expect. As you’d expect with Lovecraft’s Cthulhu mythos, it’s anything but sunshine and positive thoughts.

The Sinking City is open world but there are no quest markers or checklists. There are even monsters but that’s not the main goal. The goal is to investigate one’s surroundings, piecing together the various horrors of 1920s America. Self-defense will be necessary on occasion but for the most part, you’re a detective who has to understand what’s going on.

Currently there’s no release date for the game but it was slated to release in 2018. Could it possibly be delayed? Regardless, The Sinking City does look intriguing and is in development for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
