Question: When it comes to developers from People Can Fly, skilled with porting Gears of War to PC and developing Bullet Storm, one of the zanier first person shooters in memory, what would you expect next?

Surprisingly, ex-devs from the studio have banded together to form The Astroanuts and revealed their first project to be a horror game called The Vanishing of Ethan Carter to be released for PC this year.

You’ll play as a detective highly skilled in visualizing crimes, as you investigate the disappearance of a boy. However, things aren’t what they seem when the kidnappers turn up dead and an ancient evil slowly materializes.

Game designer Adrian Chmielarz states, “What we care about the most is that the players feel like they’re really there. Immersion is our number one priority. It’s a game about exploration and discovery. We’re not abandoning the gameplay – on the contrary: we’re trying to strip it down to the bone and make sure it’s always meaningful and truly makes the experience better.”
