The Walking Dead Developer Telltale Games Has Reportedly Laid Off More of its Remaining Staff

Some people still remain at Telltale, in spite of further layoffs.

Telltale Games abruptly shut down a few days ago, but announced in its official press release that it would be retaining a skeleton crew to help it finish its pending commitments through to next year. That, apparently, may not have been true, because if what we’re hearing today is correct, then the company has laid off all remaining staff from the skeleton crew as well.

According to a series of tweets made by the studio’s narrative designer Rachel Noel, Telltale Games has laid off more of its remaining staff as of today as well. At this point, it is clear Telltale is done forever. Does this mean its pending commitments, such as they are, will now be met by other developers (similar to, as reports suggest, what’s happening with the final two episodes of The Walking Dead: The Final Season)?

This is an absolute shame, and reeks of gross mismanagement by the company. I can only hope that the people who have lost their jobs today can all get back on their feet quickly, and find a new developer to take them on board.
