These 13 Minutes of ‘Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture’ Showcase Some Emotional Storytelling

Yes, a PlayStation game focusing on storytelling.

Upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture might be one of the most intriguing games that are slated for released announced so far (not called Half Life 3 or The Last Guardian, because seriously, do those even qualify anymore?), and it appears that like all PlayStation 4 exclusives, it will be focusing on storytelling as well.

To have some idea of what that will be like, you can check out 13 minutes from the game picked out with the express purpose of showcasing the game’s alleged emotional storytelling. The video has Creative director Dan Pinchbeck and composer Jessica Curry showcasing some brand new footage of their game and talking more about its unique approach to storytelling.

My curiosity is admittedly piqued, though I will probably take this opportunity to remind Sony that while yes, games can be a powerful storytelling medium, it might be best to actually also focus on the ‘games’ part of them every now and then. Which, as recent Sony sponsored PlayStation exclusives such as Beyond: Two Souls and The Order 1886 demonstrate, Sony seems to be forgetting a bit lately.
