They Are Billions Campaign Will Be 40-50 Hours Long, Coming at Launch

Numantian Games says campaign testing will take place internally and serve as a "new full game".

They Are Billions

Zombie survival RTS They Are Billions is still in Steam Early Access, but there are big plans for this year. In a recent update on Steam, Numantian Games noted that two new maps were coming to Survival Mode. There will also be improvements and additions to the recently released level editor, like new assets and “interesting new elements”. What about the campaign though?

Thanks to the game’s success in early access, the developer is looking to make a bigger campaign than originally planned. It will be “like a new full game with 40-50 hours of content”, which sounds enticing enough. Unfortunately, the campaign will require more work and will release with the official launch, rather than in early access.

“We’ve just got one chance to release the full finished game, and we would honestly prefer to be known as the ‘slow developers’ that have released a great RTS, than the ‘rushed developers’ with an average game,” the developer wrote in its update. “We will perform all the testing internally here with our team of testers and, of course, we will keep on updating you about the campaign details here. We believe is better not to release the campaign ‘in pieces’ as it would delay the development, and it would spoil everything. We want to surprise you with the full campaign.”

Empire Heroes and new Infected units will also be coming with the campaign’s launch. The same goes for the Laser Titan’s upgrades. Once the campaign is out, the developer will continue adding stuff into the game, perhaps with new game modes.

“Once the Campaign is released we are thinking about adding new game modes and integrating some elements of the Campaign to the Survival.”

Still, if ever there was a time to invest in They Are Billions, it’s right now. The editor has already resulted in over 500 levels being published through the Steam Workshop thus far. And that’s not taking into account the improvements made to the core Survival mode.
