The Japanese release of Wii U exclusive Xenoblade Chronicles X, the spiritual successor to their Wii hit Xenoblade Chronicles, is almost here, and we are learning more and more about the game as that release approaches. For instance, recently, we just got our first look at the boxart for the game in Japan, which you can see for yourself above. It looks absolutely stunning and badass- if I did not know anything else about the game, I would probably have bought it just on the basis of that cover alone.

But that’s not all- we also got a new batch of screenshots (also included here), which further showcase the game’s incredible sense of scale, its scope, and its gorgeous environments and beauty; that said, the same screens also highlight how uncomfortably awful the character models and faces in this game really are.

Xenoblade Chronicles X is out in Japan soon, with a western release announced for later this year, although it is rumored to be some time in May. Stay tuned.
