CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077 is a ways off, but it’s next big release is just next week with Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales. Reviews have already started coming in for the “collectible card battler meets Witcher-esque narrative”, and they’re fairly positive. So if you’re thinking of investing in a new age of Gwent, then perhaps some new gameplay footage will help you decide.

Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales, as the title denotes, is set the world of The Witcher. Players will visit different locations, meet intriguing characters ,and have an army to manage. Don’t get too confused though – the essence of Thronebreaker is still very much about Gwent. You’ll collect cards, build a deck, and engage different foes as Meve, a war-hardened queen fighting off an invasion from Nilfgaard.

How the narrative changes with one’s choices remains to be seen, but if it’s anything like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, we should be in for a treat. Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales is available on October 23rd exclusively for PC via GOG. PS4 and Xbox One players will get it on December 4th.
