Tim Cook: Apple is a big player today, not interested in the traditional console business

Posted By | On 30th, May. 2012

Apple’s CEO Tim Cook has mentioned that they’re not interested in the home console business. Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo should heave a sigh of relief after that revelation.

Cook thinks Apple is a big player now and can dictate the market flow easily. “Gaming has kind of evolved a bit. More people play on portable devices. Where we might go in the future, we’ll see,” he said, as seen on AllThingsD.

“Customers love games. I’m not interested in being in the console business in what is thought of as traditional gaming. But Apple is a big player today and things in the future will only make that bigger.”

E3 begins next week, and there’ll be many important things shown there and things like Unreal Engine 4 reveal and Wii U showcase should make things pretty interesting.
