Tom Clancy’s The Division Trailer Showcases Snowdrop Engine

Volumetric lightning, real-time destruction and much more.

Tom Clancy’s The Division was first revealed at this year’s E3 and the concept of a massively open world online RPG was enhanced by the game’s appealing visual style. Little did we know just how beautiful the game actually looked. A new trailer for the game showcased the Snowdrop Engine, which showcases various technical features of the game including volumetric lightning, day-night cycles and dynamic weather. Check it out above.

The Division is set in a post-apocalyptic, near future setting which sees the human species devastated by an unknown virus. Players will need to scavenge and push through, battling other survivors using cover mechanics and various weaponry. The online elements are still yet to be showcased, but it does look darn pretty.

Developed by Massive Entertainment, Tom Clancy’s The Division will be releasing on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in late 2014. Yes, only for next gen platforms. Stay tuned for more updates from the Spike VGX Awards.
