Nintendo announced yesterday that it would be broadcasting a Pokemon Direct on January 9, much to the surprise of everyone who’d been expecting a regular Nintendo Direct in the coming days (which was a lot of people). There’s a lot of questions about what they could talk about during the 20 minute-long presentation, especially since it comes so quickly after the launch of Pokemon Sword and Shield– as it turns out, they might very well end up focusing on those two.
As per a German press release by Nintendo (via @Ruki185 on Twitter), tomorrow’s Pokemon Direct will feature “new details” on Pokemon Sword and Shield. What that will entail remains to be seen, but we can probably expect post-launch information on new Raids, events, and the like. It’s not something Pokemon as a series has typically done in the past, but this close to Sword and Shield’s launch, it’s not all that surprising either.
It’s also possible that they will focus on Pokemon Home or the Nintendo Switch Detective Pikachu title, both of which were announced last year but haven’t received a lot of info since then. Stay tuned, and we’ll keep you updated on all info that comes our way.
For everyone getting their hopes up for the #PokemonDirect (stuff like Sinnoh remakes):
