3. Red mage

Forlorn expression aside, all of these guys look bad ass!

No list of gaming occupations would be complete without a reference to the job system that is incorporated into so many of the Final Fantasy games. Of all the jobs you could be though, the red mage stands out as being the best. Granted, you don’t have access to the top tier of spells, but the red mage’s ability to wield both black and white magic makes him a powerhouse for those middling sections of the game. That and red mages always look the coolest, with their cheeky feather caps and rapiers.

2. Dictator

I’ve always felt that the world would function much more smoothly if everybody listened to me. For this reason, my ambition is to become a dictator. I reckon despotic ruler is a much more realistic life goal. Games like Sim City, Civilization and Populous have shown us all how much fun can be had when you’re in charge of a civilization or tribe, making it a no-brainer as a career choice.

1. Jedi

Do I really need to explain this one? You get to wear Jedi robes, talk in proverbs and wield a lightsaber. Just think about it. Has many Jedi in the Star Wars universe have ever been uncool? Even Ewan McGregor managed to be kind of cool as young Obi-Wan in the Phantom Menace, and that was in spite of all those terrible puns he made throughout the film. It’s a guaranteed ticket to being awesome.
