Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth
While Resident Evil 4, Doom 3 and F.E.A.R. were garnering all the attention in 2005, this first-person horror title delved deeper into the Lovecraftian. Headfirst released Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth, chock-full of stealth and survival mechanics but also riddled with this uneasy atmosphere. The sound design and sheer understated nature of the horror pulled one deeper in, desperate to escape the horror but unable to look away. Sounds like Cthulhu to us.
