Having started life on Unreal Engine 4, Bandai Namco’s marquee beat ‘em up transitioned to Unreal Engine 5 during development, and with it completely rebuilt models portraying characters in brilliant detail: fibres pulse on bulging muscles, battle worn fists stream through air thick with floating droplets and neon shrapnel. Tekken has always been the most visceral of fighting games, and with its eighth iteration the stages, characters, lighting, and detail are pushed to the absolute limit, a new graphical standard for the series is on the horizon.
