#6. CARLOS OLIVEIRA
A year ago, there’s no way Carlos would have been this high on such a list. Hell, he wouldn’t even have been on such a list. In the original Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, he was forgettable at best and annoying at worst. In the remake though, his character was probably one of the best parts of what was, on the whole, a disappointing game. Everything from his voice to his personality to his visual design received an overhaul in 2020’s Resident Evil 3, and what that resulted in was a character who ended up having a much bigger presence and much more memorable presence in the story than anyone could have expected. His interactions with Jill were always a joy to watch, his playable sections were excellent, and he was a crucial player in the story from beginning to end. Given the fact that Carlos is still alive and kicking at the end of RE3, we really, really hope that Capcom take stock of the strong reception for his character in the remake and decide to bring him back one way or another in the future.
