You can’t really expect Nintendo to make a third person shooter and just be normal about it, and Splatoon 2, just like its predecessor, is a gleefully insane game. The concept of shooting paint at the environment to win matches is as fun in practice as it is on paper, helped greatly by just how excellent the shooting mechanics are. There’s a vast variety of weapons here as well, and each one of them feels appropriately different from each other and a blast to use. So yeah, Splatoon 2 isn’t normal, but when it’s this much fun, it doesn’t really have to be.
