Eve Online

Release Year: 2003

I am pretty much sure that you would not find this gem in most lists, But Eve Online was an amazing massive multiplayer game for its time. Eve Online takes a look 21,000 years in to the future as humans begin to colonize other places in the Universe. The developers have kept the game continuously evolving over the year by releasing patches and updates which have made sure that the game does not look dated. For gamers who love to socialize, Eve Online is one of the best options available out there.

Doom

Release Year: 1993

Controversial, Pioneer and Grand Daddy of all first person shooters, I think those three words describe Doom pretty well. Doom was so popular that the “first person shooter” genre was actually called “Doom Clone” before. It was much later when the likes of Half Life came up that the genre first person shooter came in to existence. The game was the pioneer of rendering impressive visuals, multiplayer gaming and the modifications via the WAD system. Doom was also noted to be highly controversial for the inclusion gore and blood which led it to being labelled as a “mass murder simulator” which was expected as great things always face criticism at first.

World of Warcraft

Release Year: 2004

World of Warcraft is the world’s most subscribed MMORPG with close to 13 million subscribers. According to the information we have, the game holds a mammoth 62 percent of the total MMORPG market! The game contains various mechanisms for PvP play and option for players on PvE servers  to flag themselves.  The mode that the player has selected make combat between factions possible at any time. As usual with Blizzard games, World of Warcraft was also praised for its audio and visuals.

Civilization IV

Release Year: 2005

Civ IV was developed by the highly talented team at Firaxis Games and published by 2K. Often argued as the best entry in the series, Civilization IV was praised for its depth in strategizing various game play elements and awesome AI of the opponents. The game won several awards and nominations including several Game of the Year awards from major publications and Interactive Achievement Awards.
