Crysis

Release Year: 2007


Three years later and no game has yet reach the graphical prowess that Crytek’s beast Crysis has achieved. If you love a realistic world and an epic sci-fi action Crysis is the best bet you can have. The game was appreciated for its open world game play approach and giving the player the option to approach a msission in whatever way they wished. The game boasted of having the most advanced graphics and has managed to forever change the action genre.


Minecraft

Release Year: 2009


Minecraft is a colossal example about the fact that you don’t need big budgets and mind blowing marketing campaigns to make a game successful. For those of you who are unaware of Minecraft, here is a bit of information. Minecraft is an open sand box game which allows the player to construct creations using cubes in a 3D world. The game has two modes, Alpha and Classic. Classic focuses totally on constructing and Alpha adds bit more in the game in the form of health and enemies. The game is still in alpha stage and has already sold over 600,000 and has over 2 million registrations! Play it before your time is up.


Diablo

Release Year: 1997


Diablo was set in the fictional world of Khanduras. The player takes control of a hero battling to rid the world of Diablo, the antagonist in the game. The game takes place across 16 levels before the player faces Diablo himself in Hell. The game was highly praised for its immersive atmosphere, graphics, audio, the amount of quests and the variety in enemies. The multiplayer component of the game was highly appreciated as well and was touted as one of the reasons why the game had so much replay value.


Company of Heroes

Release Year: 2006


Relic made a cracking strategy game in Company of Heroes. The game is set in the World War II era which sees the player commands two teams, the 29th Infantry Division and 101st Airborne. Company of Heroes is built on Relic’s next-generation Essence Engine and also utilizes the Havok Physics engine, delivering cinematic visual detail in a world completely driven by realistic physics. Advanced squad AI delivers startling new realism and responsiveness, bringing soldiers to life as they interact with the environment and execute advanced squad tactics to eliminate the opposition forces.
