16. Tekken 8
Bandai Namco’s sequel in the long-running Tekken series kind of simmered down in hype over the months, but it’s still a well-rounded fighting experience. The new Heat system brings some great strategy and high-octane moments while the overall mechanics are more robust and compelling than ever. Your mileage may vary with the new story mode (the Episodes still offer some hilarious conclusions), but the Super Ghost Battles, Arcade Quest, and online play are worth sinking time into. Having some great new characters at launch, like Azucena, Victor, and Reina, didn’t hurt either.
