#20. DEATH STRANDING
Here’s an understatement: Death Stranding is not for everyone. It is, by design, an unusual game, and it revels in being as weird as it is. From its setting to its world to its central gameplay mechanics, Death Stranding constantly does things that you wouldn’t ordinarily expect AAA games to do. But if it manages to grab you, you’re in for an unforgettable experience. Death Stranding makes traversal its central hook, and weaves an intricate web of mechanics around that, all of which is strengthened further by the strong execution of its unique ideas for online play. It’s a game that revels in downtime, by making sure that literally every step you take is something you have to think about. As we said, this game is not for everyone, but if you’re one of the people it is for, you’ll agree with us when we say it’s one of the best games Hideo Kojima has ever made- which is ridiculously high praise.
