#19. YAKUZA 6: THE SONG OF LIFE
Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio had the weight of a massive responsibility on their shoulders with Yakuza 6: The Song of Life. Saying goodbye to the Dragon of Dojima was certainly not going to be easy, and fans surely had high expectations for the final bow of such a beloved character. Building on the mainstream success they found with Yakuza 0, however, they absolutely knocked it out of the park with this final chapter in Kazuma Kiryu’s story. Built on a new engine, Yakuza 6 was a very technically impressive game, while it also delivered the bombastic action of the series in spades. It was also a touching and memorable finale, with years of narrative culminating in a fittingly dripping climax. While we’re very excited to see where Yakuza goes with the upcoming Like a Dragon and whether or not Kiryu’s shoes will be too big for Ichiban Kasuga to fill, one thing’s for sure- the Dragon of Dojima will always be in our hearts.
