The original game was actually a multi-platform release at the time
Almost all Final Fantasy fans thinks that the game was always an NES game. However what many of them don’t know is that the game was a multi platform release and was rapidly ported to the MSX/2 computer which was a console hybrid, where the game had several interesting features such as different graphics and slightly improved music. The developers wanted to mix things up a bit and try to compete with other games that were appearing on other platforms, in this case Dragons Quest.
