Final Fantasy IX was crammed with references to older games, but it’s quite hard to spot them
Only the most hardcore gamers and dedicated fans to the Final Fantasy franchise may have found them, but the casual gamer and the common man would not have found these gems hiding in Final Fantasy IX, and I don’t blame them, because of inconsistent localization it was hard to find them. Things like Mt. Gulg (a callback to Final Fantasy’s Mt. Gurgu) are something that most gamers would miss.
