Ability to change PSN ID

With the Xbox One, Microsoft has granted users the ability to change the gamertag but Sony however simply won’t allow it. For those who want a new PSN ID, players would simply need to start completely over. Why not allow us to change our PSN ID and still keep our friends list, trophies and content? I would be more than happy to pay for a PSN ID change if it came down to it.
