Creative Assembly’s upcoming historical RTS, the latest in its award winning and commercially successful Total War line, gets a new faction. The Parthians, a horse-riding army armed with scales and spears, join Total War: Rome 2’s mix of politics and warfare.
The Romans fought with the Parthians between 66 BC to 217 AD in what would serve as the warm-up for the Roman-Persian Wars (that subsequently lasted 719 years).
Parthia is described in Total War: Rome 2 as being full of skilled statesmen that look to tolerance and fairness when governing. The empire itself is said to have contained large city-states along with the usual rural settlements.
How that all factors into the fight for diplomacy and supremacy in Total War: Rome 2, slated for release on PC by Sega this October, remains to be seen. In the meantime, bask in the awesomeness of the pre-Persian Empire and its powerful rush towards victory in the above screenshot.
