The Creative Assembly announced plans last year to branch off into several different games in the Total War universe and after Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia, the developer has announced Total War: Three Kingdoms.

Set in the year 190 CE in China, it follows the Han Dynasty wreaking havoc thanks to warlord Dong Zhuo. Though there’s plenty of violence happening, there is some hope against the tyrant. This comes in the form of a coalition made of other warlords from the great families, though whether they can work together or allow their own ambition to ruin things remains to be seen.

Though The Creative Assembly hasn’t showcased gameplay, it seems that success will depend as much on forming alliances and finding the right opportunities as much as warfare. Total War: Three Kingdoms will be releasing later this Fall for PC. Check out the cinematic trailer below or head on over to Steam to pre-order it.
