Total War: Three Kingdoms releases later this month, and today the game’s official YouTube channel released an 8 minute video of the developers discussing the flow of the gameplay- particularly what a midgame campaign battle can end up looking like.

They discuss the various mechanics, and how it affects the world around you. One highlight is what happens when you have the ability to declare yourself king, and how it can turn the tide of battle, and how the AI can do the same to flip the tables. They skip all cutscenes, so no worries about spoilers here. You can see both, how the game looks very familiar to Total War, but also how it has its own systems and flow based on its setting of ancient China. You can see the video below.

Total War: Three Kingdoms will release May 23rd exclusively on PC. You can check out the whole list of warlords in the game to chose from, and some things to know about the game before it releases.
