It’s been a whirlwind of a year for Toys for Bob so far. The Activision-owned studio behind Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, and Skylanders was one of several studios to be impacted by Microsoft’s mass layoffs earlier in the year, but earlier this month, it was announced that Toys for Bob was separating from Activision and Xbox and going back to being a private, independent studio.

At the time it was reported that the studio was exploring a possible partnership with Microsoft for its first title as an independent developer, and it seems that has now been solidified. As per a report published by Windows Central, Matt Booty – head of Xbox’s game content division – told employees during a recent townhall meeting that Toys for Bob and Microsoft had reached an agreement for the former’s first game.

While details on what the game will be are scant, Booty reportedly said during the meeting that it will be “similar to games Toys for Bob has made in the past.”

Having been around for over three decades, Toys for Bob has, of course, worked on a variety of different games over the years, though it’s fair to say that the studio is best known for the likes of the Skylanders franchise, as well as more recent games such as Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, Spyro Reignited Trilogyand Crash Team Rumble.

It remains to be seen when an official announcement will be made regarding Toys for Bob and Microsoft’s partnership. Stay tuned for more updates.
