Following its most recent financial report, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot spoke about the benefits of Xbox One’s backwards compatibility for Xbox 360 games. This feature was announced at E3 2015 and Microsoft promised to have several games available once it launches later this year.

Guillemot stated that, “It’s good news for gamers that Microsoft was able to work on the compatibility aspect. They expect to come with 100 titles quite quickly, so that’s really good news.”

Along with additional revenue for developers, Guillemot believes that, “It will help some of the brands, like Splinter Cell for us, to come to Xbox One, which is great.”

It’s interesting because Ubisoft reported lower sales figures on the Xbox One than the PS4. Perhaps the presence of previous gen hits will allow for Xbox 360 gamers to make the transition to the Xbox One. Backwards compatibility is currently available for preview program members.
