Slightly Mad Studios’ Project CARS may have been delayed time and time again but that extra time has been rewarded. Not only is the game critically acclaimed across all platforms but it’s also debuted in first place for the UK, according to sales data from Gfk Chart-Track. Even more impressively, Project CARS has become the first racing sim to reach such a position in the past two years (sorry. DriveClub and Forza Horizon 2).

The remaining top ten looks fairly typical. Grand Theft Auto 5 is still in second place while Mortal Komabt X – the previous week’s number 1 selling title – fell to third place this week. FIFA 15 is in fourth place followed by Dying Light in fifth. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Battlefield: Hardline, Minecraft: Xbox Edition, Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Destiny took up the remaining spots in the top ten.

Sales of Destiny are quite intriguing seeing as how its next expansion House of Wolves will be out next week on May 19th. What are your thoughts on the success of Project CARS though? Let us know in the comments.
